Community Building, Hillsborough, NH;
from a c. 1922 postcard.
One of New Hampshire's best late-Victorian houses was once the residence of Governor John Butler Smith, now serves as a library and community center. Built in 1893 this house combines features of the Queen Anne and Colonial Revival styles. The roof is steep, the chimney a prominent feature of the facade is paneled and has stone moldings. Small scale classical detail is scene everywhere on the building, and the interior woodwork is elaborately carved.
